Sithananda Swamy Temple

It is one of the prominent religious sites in Pondicherry. Surprisingly, it is not one of the shrines where people do come to worship celestial beings or deities. Over here, the main deity is a saint, Guru Sithananda Swamigal. The people of Pondicherry believe that he was buried alive and on the very same spot, a Shiva Lingam has been erected. Every Thursday, the devotees visit the temple to offer special rituals and have darshan of the idol. The temple is considered two decades old and a top holy spot in Pondicherry.
